Atomfair-CTCD-7316 Coating & Drying System
Product Overview
This coating and drying system features precise constant tension control and supports two professional coating processes: extrusion coating and microgravure coating. It is equipped with a multi-section electric heating oven for efficient drying, with adjustable air volume and flexible gas treatment. The whole machine is designed with segmented tension and closed-loop control, ensuring stable and accurate coating for electrode substrates and other materials, and adapts to various slurry process requirements.
Core Working Principles & Features
Constant Tension Control
- Set the machine running speed; the motor speed is adjusted according to the pendulum roller position to maintain constant tension.
- The whole machine adopts segmented tension design: one pendulum roller is installed between two driving rollers, forming a closed-loop tension system with potentiometer and motor.
Extrusion Coating
- Slurry is delivered to the intermittent valve at a constant speed without interruption by a screw pump, and reaches the die head through the opening and closing of the intermittent valve.
- The slurry extruded from the die lip is coated on the electrode substrate, and the film is dried in a high-temperature oven.
- Coating length is controlled by the opening and closing time of the intermittent valve; slurry flows back to the storage tank during non-coating periods.
Microgravure Coating
- A closed material box is formed by material box, scraper, microgravure roller and material baffle.
- Peristaltic pump delivers slurry to the material box; the rotating microgravure roller carries the slurry, and the pressure roller makes the substrate contact the microgravure roller to transfer the coating to the substrate for continuous experimental coating.
- Coating width and thickness can be controlled by the mesh number of microgravure roller and the length of engraving lines.
Professional Drying System
- The coated substrate is fed into the oven for drying with the material belt.
- The oven adopts electric heating mode, and evaporates water or solvent through fan and hot air conduction.
- Oven air nozzles support variable frequency control of fan speed to adjust air volume according to different slurry types.
- Exhaust fan circulates or discharges the evaporated gas through pipelines.

This system requires a clean, dry compressed air supply at 0.6 MPa and operates within an ambient temperature range of 23–30 °C with humidity ≤60%. The installation floor must support a loading capacity of 400 kg/m² and provide a minimum space of approximately 18 m (L) × 2.8 m (W) × 3.0 m (H) for the unit itself, excluding additional service clearance.
- Compressed Air Quality: The compressed air supply must be water-free, oil-free, filtered and clean at a pressure of 0.6 MPa.
- Environmental Conditions: The working temperature must be maintained between 23–30 °C and relative humidity below 60% to ensure proper operation.
- Floor Loading Capacity: The installation floor must have a loading capacity of at least 400 kg/m².
- Installation Space: The system requires a minimum installation space of approximately 18 m length, 2.8 m width, and 3.0 m height, excluding additional space for operation and maintenance.
- Electrical Power Supply: The system has an installed power of 137 kW, with actual power consumption typically between 80% and 90% of that value.
This procedure outlines the steps to initialize the coating and drying system and operate it safely. It covers connection of utilities, selection of coating process, and key parameter adjustments for extrusion or microgravure coating.
Required Equipment: Compressed air supply, Screw pump, Peristaltic pump, Electric heating oven
- Connect compressed air
Connect a clean, dry compressed air supply at 0.6 MPa to the single interface on the system. - Set machine speed and tension
Set the desired machine running speed on the control panel to activate the constant tension closed-loop system. - Initialize extrusion coating
For extrusion coating, start the screw pump to deliver slurry at a constant speed to the intermittent valve. - Control coating length

What are the key differences between extrusion coating and microgravure coating on the Atomfair-CTCD-7316 system, and how do they affect electrode substrate processing?
The system integrates both extrusion and microgravure coating methods. Extrusion coating uses a screw pump to deliver slurry at constant speed to a die head, with coating length controlled by intermittent valve timing; it is designed for precise, production-oriented electrode coating with segmented tension control. Microgravure coating employs a peristaltic pump and a microgravure roller, where coating width and thickness are controlled by the mesh number and engraving line length; it is intended for continuous experimental coating. The choice depends on whether production-scale or experimental coating is required, and the desired control over coating parameters.
What infrastructure requirements (compressed air, power, floor loading) must be met for installing the Atomfair-CTCD-7316 coating and drying system?
The system requires a compressed air supply at 0.6 MPa that is water-free, oil-free, filtered, and clean. Installed power is 137 kW, with actual power consumption estimated at 80–90% of that. The floor loading capacity must be at least 400 kg/m². Working temperature should be 23–30°C and humidity ≤60%, though these conditions can be customized to specific process requirements.
How does the drying system handle solvent evaporation and air volume adjustment for different slurry types?
The oven uses electric heating and hot air conduction with fan speed controlled via variable frequency drive to adjust air volume based on slurry type. The exhaust fan can circulate or discharge evaporated gases through pipelines, enabling treatment of solvent vapors. The drying length totals 12 m (3 m per section × 4 sections), and the system supports adjustable air volume to accommodate varying drying requirements.
The Atomfair-CTCD-7316 Coating & Drying System integrates segmented closed-loop tension control with dual extrusion and microgravure coating capabilities, supported by a 12-meter multi-section electric drying oven with variable-frequency air handling. Its design enables precise, continuous coating of electrode substrates while accommodating diverse slurry formulations, though it demands substantial facility infrastructure including 137 kW installed power, 0.6 MPa clean compressed air, and a 400 kg/m² floor loading capacity.
Positive
- Dual coating process flexibility: Supports both extrusion and microgravure coating methods, enabling adaptation to different slurry viscosities and coating precision requirements within a single system.
- Closed-loop segmented tension control: Pendulum roller-based closed-loop tension control between driving rollers maintains constant web tension, ensuring coating uniformity and dimensional stability of electrode substrates.
Trade-offs
- High utility infrastructure demands: Requires 137 kW installed power (80-90% actual draw), 0.6 MPa clean dry compressed air, and a floor loading capacity of 400 kg/m², necessitating significant facility upgrades for many labs.
- Large footprint and environmental constraints: Occupies approximately 18m x 2.8m x 3.0m (excluding service space) and requires controlled ambient conditions of 23-30°C and ≤60% humidity, limiting installation to spacious, climate-regulated facilities.
