Atomfair OilDetect 369 Fully Automatic Infrared Oil Analyzer
Product Overview
Atomfair OilDetect 369 Fully Automatic Infrared Oil Analyzer is a professional instrument specially designed for the measurement of oil, petroleum hydrocarbons, animal and vegetable oils in water. Developed in accordance with relevant international testing standards, it has the advantages of stable performance, high measurement accuracy and fast detection speed. It is widely used in laboratories, third-party testing institutions, research institutes, sewage treatment plants and other scenarios in petroleum, petrochemical, smelting, environmental protection, hydrology and water conservancy industries, providing efficient and reliable solutions for various water quality oil content detection.
Working Principle
Based on the principle of like dissolves like, oil substances in water are extracted into tetrachloroethylene, and oil measurement is realized after oil-water separation; petroleum hydrocarbons measurement can be completed after oil substances pass through the magnesium silicate adsorption column. Oil substances have absorption characteristics at the spectral bands with wave numbers of 2930cm⁻¹ (stretching vibration of C-H bond in CH₂ group), 2960cm⁻¹ (stretching vibration of C-H bond in CH₃ group) and 3030cm⁻¹ (stretching vibration of C-H bond in aromatic hydrocarbons). The instrument conducts qualitative and quantitative analysis of oil substances by utilizing the absorption and conversion of spectral energy.

The instrument requires the use of tetrachloroethylene as an extractant, a hazardous solvent that must be handled with care; the built‑in waste gas treatment channel and classified waste liquid bottles minimize operator exposure and environmental impact. The optical system uses a cast‑aluminum base with natural stress aging and zero‑tracking technology to maintain accuracy despite mechanical and thermal drift.
- Tetrachloroethylene Handling: Tetrachloroethylene is used as the extraction solvent; the instrument includes a waste gas treatment channel to avoid direct contact, and the extractant is automatically recovered and stored in a dedicated waste liquid bottle.
- Waste Liquid Segregation: The instrument automatically separates extractant and water samples into different waste liquid bottles to reduce treatment volume and environmental burden.
- High‑Concentration Sample Auto‑Dilution: When the measurement result exceeds the threshold, the instrument automatically dilutes the sample by a fixed multiple to maintain accuracy.
Load the water sample directly into the provided special sampling bottle, place it in the instrument, and set the desired sample positions via the software. The instrument then automatically performs reagent inspection, extraction, separation, measurement, and cleaning without manual intervention.

What is the detection limit of the Atomfair OilDetect 369 and how does it handle samples exceeding the measurement range?
The detection limit is 0.06 mg/L with a standard measurement range of 0.24–100 mg/L. When a sample exceeds the upper threshold, the instrument automatically applies a fixed dilution factor to bring the concentration within range, ensuring accuracy without manual re-preparation.
Can the OilDetect 369 measure total oil, petroleum hydrocarbons, and animal/vegetable oils in a single run, and does it require sample filtration for turbid waters?
Yes, it supports simultaneous or separate measurement of all three parameters using a three-wave number correction method without additional calibration curves. The instrument is designed for high-impurity water and can process samples directly without manual pretreatment or filtration, using membrane separation for oil-water separation.
What safety measures are integrated to minimize operator exposure to tetrachloroethylene during automated oil analysis?
A dedicated waste gas treatment channel routes fumes away from the operator, eliminating the need for a fume hood. The system also automatically stores extractant and water samples in separate waste liquid bottles, reducing hazardous waste handling and environmental burden.
The Atomfair OilDetect 369 is a fully automatic infrared oil analyzer that extracts oil from water into tetrachloroethylene and quantifies total oil, petroleum hydrocarbons, and animal/vegetable oils via three-wave-number spectral analysis. Its cast aluminum base with natural stress aging ensures optical stability, while automated dilution and waste segregation support high-impurity water samples and safe operation without a fume hood.
Positive
- High optical stability and accuracy: The cast aluminum base with natural stress aging provides excellent optical stability with mechanical positioning error less than 1 cm⁻¹, and the three-wave-number correction method achieves detection error under 3% for different aromatic ratios, ensuring reliable quantitative results.
- Fully automated and efficient workflow: The instrument automates tetrachloroethylene purity inspection, extraction, oil-water separation, measurement, pipeline cleaning, and reagent recovery, completing the full process in about 10 minutes with extraction efficiency over 98%, significantly reducing manual intervention and improving throughput.
Trade-offs
- Requires specific solvent and waste management: The analyzer relies on tetrachloroethylene as the extraction solvent, which is a hazardous chemical. Although the instrument includes a waste gas treatment channel and segregated waste liquid bottles, users must still handle and dispose of the solvent and waste streams according to environmental and safety regulations.
- Limited measurement range and sample volume: The measurement range is 0.24-100 mg/L with a maximum water sample volume of 750 mL, and the extraction ratio is fixed at (100~5):1. High-concentration samples require automatic dilution, which may extend analysis time and add complexity for samples exceeding the upper limit.
