Its core application scenarios include:
- Post-transformation Recovery: After bacterial cells undergo transformation procedures such as heat shock or electroporation, SOC Medium rapidly repairs the cell membrane, restores cell viability, and facilitates the expression of resistance genes on plasmids (e.g., ampicillin resistance), laying a foundation for subsequent positive clone screening via antibiotic-containing agar plates.
- High-copy Plasmid Amplification: With its richer nutritional composition, it shortens culture time and improves plasmid yield, making it suitable for large-scale plasmid preparation requirements.
- Competent Cell Preparation: It cultivates E. coli in the logarithmic growth phase, providing high-activity initial bacterial cultures for competent cell preparation.
