Pad Types & Key Applications
Chemo-Textile Pads (Self-Adhesive)
Engineered with uniformly controlled thickness for consistent performance, ideal for intermediate to fast-cutting applications:
- PSU-M: Firm, dense non-woven pad for intermediate polishing (post-grinding, pre-final polishing). Perfect for finishing plastics with non-diamond abrasives; use with AcryPol for acrylic lens final polishing.
- PAD-K: Ultra-hard chemo-textile pad for fast cutting needs, delivering efficient material removal without compromising surface integrity.
Nap-Type Pads (Self-Adhesive, unless marked “plain”)
Designed for gentle, final polishing with varying softness and nap lengths?ideal for softer specimens and components:
- Chem H: Buffed polyurethane with microscopic voids (closed-pore structure) for longer life and high stock removal. Ideal for colloidal silica chemical mechanical polishing (CMP).
- NLH: Very soft flocked pad (absorbent viscose fibres on cotton substrate) for final polishing of harder alloys. Use with Aquapol-P Diamond Suspension or polycrystalline Diamond Compounds.
- MBL: Versatile nap pad for precise final finishing of diverse materials.
- MRE: Heavy-duty synthetic flock pad on waterproof carrier. Suitable for 6 ?m Aquapol Diamond Suspension (and finer) and CMP superfinishing on soft materials with Col-K NC.
- NSB-H: Short nap pad with woven backing for final polishing using 3 ?m (and finer) Aquapol Diamond Suspension.
- LIL-Plus: Soft flocked pad (absorbent viscose fibres on polymer backing) for final polishing with 3 ?m (and finer) Aquapol Diamond Suspension.
- Selvyt SR: Medium-nap cotton pad (single pile, non-adhesive) for gentle final polishing with diamond or conventional abrasives.
- Kan: 100% pure wool woven pad for premium final polishing using diamond or conventional abrasives, delivering exceptional surface finish.
Silk-Type Pads (Specialized for Metal Finishing)
Developed to achieve mirror-polished surfaces on metal specimens and components:
- ASFL: Woven synthetic silk pad with internal barrier for mirror polishing of metals/plastics. Use with 3 ?m (and finer) diamond suspensions; thin surface minimizes edge roll-off, ensuring excellent flatness.
- ASR: Synthetic silk pad optimized for high-precision metal finishing, ideal for critical sample preparation.
- MSL: Delivers flat, mirror-polished surfaces on metals. Best results with 3 ?m (and finer) diamond compounds or suspensions.
- MSR: High-performance silk-type pad for metal mirror polishing, ensuring consistent surface quality across batches.
- MST: Premium silk-type pad for specialized metal finishing applications, meeting strict precision requirements.
