Description
Soil Grinding and Screening Machine
Product Introduction
This machine is designed for heavy metal analysis in soil, equipped with 4 agate grinding jars. The sealing pressure of the agate grinding jars is adjustable via a graduated scale. The grinding jars rotate reversely around their own axes while revolving around the turntable axis. Samples inside the jars collide and rub against each other at high speed, achieving sample crushing, grinding, mixing and dispersion. It supports dry grinding, wet grinding and vacuum grinding. Two or four grinding jars can work simultaneously at a time.

Working Principle
This machine is used for heavy metal analysis in soil, equipped with 4 agate grinding jars. The sealing pressure of the agate grinding jars is set by a graduated scale. The jars revolve around the turntable axis and rotate reversely around their own axes at the same time. Samples in the jars collide and rub against each other during high-speed movement, so as to crush, grind, mix and disperse samples. It can be used for dry grinding, wet grinding and vacuum grinding. Two or four grinding jars can operate at the same time.
Supporting Products Supply
We also supply various grinding balls: stainless steel balls, zirconia balls, alumina balls, PU balls, cemented carbide balls, tungsten balls, agate balls, hard alloy balls, silicon nitride balls, high wear-resistant steel balls, manganese steel balls, nylon balls, glass balls and other special metal material balls.
We also provide grinding jars of various materials: agate, alumina corundum ceramic, zirconia ceramic, silicon nitride ceramic, silicon carbide ceramic, stainless steel, wear-resistant steel, manganese steel, nylon, polyurethane, hard alloy, crystal glass, etc.
Store the mill in a dry, temperature-controlled environment to prevent electrical and mechanical degradation. Sealing integrity of agate jars must be verified before each use to avoid sample leakage and potential contamination.
- Electrical Safety: Connect the mill to a dedicated grounded 220 V AC outlet to mitigate electrical hazards.
- Jar Handling: Agate jars are brittle and may fracture if over-tightened or dropped, necessitating careful handling and proper sealing torque.
- Vacuum Operation: Vacuum grinding requires compatible seals and a controlled evacuation process to prevent implosion or jar collapse.
- Wet Grinding Precautions: Contain slurry fully within jars to avoid exposing the motor and bearings to corrosive or conductive liquids.
This procedure ensures safe startup and shutdown of the mill equipped with four agate jars for dry, wet, or vacuum grinding. Proper jar sealing and speed selection are critical to avoid mechanical failure and sample contamination.
Required Equipment: Agate grinding jar set (4 jars with seal rings)
- Inspect Jars
Inspect each agate jar for cracks, chips, or worn seals and clean the interior to remove residual material. - Secure Sealing
Place sample and grinding media in the jar, tighten the lid, and adjust sealing pressure using the graduated scale until the indicator aligns with the recommended mark. - Mount Jars in Holders
Position each sealed jar into a holder and confirm that it locks securely into place without wobbling. - Set Operation Parameters
Set the revolution speed to the desired value within the safe operating range (0–335 r/min) and configure the timer for the required duration. - Initiate Grinding
Press the start button and monitor the mill for unusual vibrations or noise during the first 30 seconds of operation. - Shutdown and Unload
Allow the mill to come to a complete stop before opening the lid, then carefully remove the jars and release any residual vacuum before unsealing.
What is the relationship between jar rotation speed and achievable particle size for the XQM-(8-12) planetary mill when grinding soil samples?
The XQM-(8-12) provides stepless jar rotation speeds from 0 to 580 r/min. Higher speeds increase impact energy, enabling reduction of soil feed particles ≤10 mm to a final fineness as low as 0.1 μm. This performance is supported by a 1.5 kW motor and continuous operation capability of up to 48 hours at full load.
Can the XQM-(8-12) planetary mill grind materials other than soil, and what feed size constraints apply?
Yes, the mill can grind a variety of materials, but feed particle size is limited to ≤10 mm for soil and ≤3 mm for other materials. Standard configuration includes 4 agate jars (250 ml each) and 700 agate balls; for harder samples, alternative jar and ball materials such as zirconia, tungsten carbide, and silicon nitride are available from the supplier.
What are the electrical and installation requirements for the XQM-(8-12) planetary mill in a laboratory setting?
The XQM-(8-12) requires a 220V AC power supply and uses a three-phase motor with a variable frequency controller rated at 1.5 kW. The unit weighs 168 kg with overall dimensions of 900×600×640 mm, requiring a sturdy, vibration-dampened surface. A power display and electronic monitoring device are included for safe operation.
The Atomfair XQM-(8-12) is a large-capacity planetary mill optimized for heavy metal analysis in soil, with four 250 ml agate jars that offer adjustable sealing pressure and support for dry, wet, and vacuum grinding. It includes an integrated electric screener for particle size classification, but requires pre-crushing for feed sizes exceeding 10 mm for soil or 3 mm for other materials.
Positive
- Multi-mode grinding flexibility: Supports dry, wet, and vacuum grinding modes, enabling versatile sample preparation for a range of laboratory applications without requiring separate equipment.
- Adjustable jar sealing pressure: The agate grinding jars incorporate a graduated scale for precise sealing pressure adjustment, allowing controlled grinding conditions critical for volatile or oxygen-sensitive materials.
Trade-offs
- Feed particle size limitation: Maximum feed particle size is 10 mm for soil and 3 mm for other materials; samples exceeding these dimensions must be pre-crushed to avoid damage or inefficient grinding.
- Standard jar material specificity: The included agate jars are ideal for heavy metal analysis but may not be chemically or mechanically suitable for all sample types; alternative jar materials (e.g., zirconia, stainless steel) are available as optional accessories.
