Description
Soil Grinding and Screening Machine
Product Introduction
This machine is designed for heavy metal analysis in soil, equipped with 4 agate grinding jars. The sealing pressure of the agate grinding jars is adjustable via a graduated scale. The grinding jars rotate reversely around their own axes while revolving around the turntable axis. Samples inside the jars collide and rub against each other at high speed, achieving sample crushing, grinding, mixing and dispersion. It supports dry grinding, wet grinding and vacuum grinding. Two or four grinding jars can work simultaneously at a time.

Working Principle
This machine is used for heavy metal analysis in soil, equipped with 4 agate grinding jars. The sealing pressure of the agate grinding jars is set by a graduated scale. The jars revolve around the turntable axis and rotate reversely around their own axes at the same time. Samples in the jars collide and rub against each other during high-speed movement, so as to crush, grind, mix and disperse samples. It can be used for dry grinding, wet grinding and vacuum grinding. Two or four grinding jars can operate at the same time.
Supporting Products Supply
We also supply various grinding balls: stainless steel balls, zirconia balls, alumina balls, PU balls, cemented carbide balls, tungsten balls, agate balls, hard alloy balls, silicon nitride balls, high wear-resistant steel balls, manganese steel balls, nylon balls, glass balls and other special metal material balls.
We also provide grinding jars of various materials: agate, alumina corundum ceramic, zirconia ceramic, silicon nitride ceramic, silicon carbide ceramic, stainless steel, wear-resistant steel, manganese steel, nylon, polyurethane, hard alloy, crystal glass, etc.
This mill requires electrical grounding and a stable, level surface to operate within safety tolerances. Agate grinding jars must be sealed with graduated pressure adjustment to prevent leakage and jar fracture.
- Electrical Safety Constraint: The unit must be connected to a 220V AC supply with proper grounding to avoid electrical shock.
- Mechanical Stability Constraint: The mill must be placed on a vibration-dampening surface due to its 950 kg net weight and high-speed planetary motion.
- Jar Sealing Pressure Constraint: The sealing pressure of each agate jar must be adjusted uniformly using the graduated scale to avoid uneven loading and jar failure.
- Sample Compatibility Constraint: Feed particle size must be ≤10 mm for soil samples to prevent clogging and ensure efficient grinding.
- Vacuum Grinding Containment Constraint: Vacuum grinding requires airtight sealing of the jars and proper evacuation to prevent sample contamination and operator exposure.
This procedure outlines the initial setup, sample loading, and safe operation of the mill for soil grinding. Follow each step in sequence to minimize risk of mechanical failure or personal injury.
Required Equipment: Atomfair XQM-60 Planetary Ball Mill, Agate grinding jar set
- Inspect Jars
Inspect the agate grinding jars for any cracks or chips before installation. - Load Samples
Load soil samples into the jars ensuring the feed particle size does not exceed 10 mm. - Adjust Sealing Pressure
Set the sealing pressure on the graduated scale to the recommended value for the sample type. - Mount Jars
Mount the jars onto the mill's jar holders and verify they are securely locked. - Start Operation
Start the mill with the revolution speed set between 35 and 335 r/min and monitor the rotation for unusual vibrations. - Stop and Unload
After grinding, stop the mill and allow the jars to come to a complete rest before opening the lid.
How does the lower jar rotation speed of the XQM-60 (0-260 r/min) affect the grinding efficiency for soil samples compared to smaller models?
The XQM-60 operates at a maximum jar rotation speed of 260 r/min with a 1:1.5 ratio, which is lower than smaller models, but its jar revolution diameter of Φ490 and 7.5KW motor power compensate by increasing centrifugal force and energy input. It achieves a discharge particle size as fine as 0.1 μm for soil samples with a feed size of ≤10 mm, ensuring efficient grinding despite the reduced speed.
Can the XQM-60 use grinding jars made of materials other than agate without contaminating soil samples for heavy metal analysis?
The XQM-60 is designed specifically for heavy metal analysis in soil and is equipped with 4 agate grinding jars to minimize contamination. While the manufacturer supplies jars in various materials such as stainless steel, alumina, and zirconia, using non-agate jars may introduce metallic contaminants, making agate the recommended choice for maintaining trace heavy metal integrity.
What are the floor loading and power supply requirements for installing the XQM-60 planetary ball mill?
The XQM-60 has a net weight of 950 kg and overall dimensions of 1600×1070×1250 mm, requiring a reinforced floor capable of supporting this load. It requires a 220V AC, three-phase power supply with the motor rated at 7.5KW, and the variable frequency controller allows continuous full-load operation for up to 48 hours.
The Atomfair XQM-60 planetary ball mill provides ultra-large 60L capacity with four agate jars for heavy metal analysis, but its 950 kg weight and requirement for three-phase power impose significant laboratory infrastructure demands.
Positive
- Ultra-large 60L capacity for high throughput: The XQM-60 offers a 60L total grinding capacity, enabling processing of large sample volumes in a single batch, ideal for soil heavy metal analysis and bulk material preparation.
- Versatile dry, wet, and vacuum grinding: The mill accommodates dry, wet, and vacuum grinding conditions, providing flexibility for various sample types and preparation requirements without need for multiple instruments.
Trade-offs
- Heavy unit requires dedicated floor space: At 950 kg net weight and 1.6m width, the XQM-60 demands robust flooring, adequate clearance, and handling equipment for installation and relocation.
- Requires three-phase power and high current: The 7.5 KW three-phase motor and variable frequency controller necessitate a dedicated three-phase electrical supply, limiting deployment to laboratories with appropriate infrastructure.
