Description

Double Planetary Ball Mill

Product Introduction

The double planetary structure enables the large planetary disk to drive the small grinding jars in motion. The revolution radius and rotation speed of the grinding jars are larger than those of ordinary planetary ball mills of the same specification. The centrifugal force on the grinding balls is multiplied, and the collision, shearing and friction between the balls are significantly increased, improving grinding effect and efficiency. Some materials can be ground to nanometer scale. The double planetary ball mill is a typical high-efficiency and high-energy ball mill.

Application

The double planetary ball mill is a powder processing device for laboratory mixing, fine grinding and small-batch production of high-tech materials. It features an attractive and novel design, compact structure, easy operation, high working efficiency and uniform grinding fineness, making it an ideal choice for research, education, testing and production. It is widely used in electronics, magnetics, pharmaceuticals, ceramics, geology, mineral resources, metallurgy, building materials, chemical industry, light industry, cosmetics, environmental protection and other industries.

Product Features

The equipment shell adopts professional industrial design and is welded with thickened steel plate, featuring high strength, impact resistance, deformation resistance and stable appearance.Machined parts undergo strict heat treatment and CNC processing. The transmission gears are precision gears made of special materials, ensuring stable, safe and low-noise operation at high speed.

Optional Accessories

We also supply various grinding balls: stainless steel balls, zirconia balls, alumina balls, PU balls, carbon steel balls, tungsten balls, agate balls, cemented carbide balls, silicon nitride balls, high-wear-resistant steel balls, manganese steel balls, nylon balls, glass balls and other special metal materials.

We also provide grinding jars of various materials: agate, alumina corundum ceramic, zirconia ceramic, silicon nitride ceramic, silicon carbide ceramic, stainless steel, wear-resistant steel, manganese steel, nylon, polyurethane, cemented carbide, crystal glass, etc.

Operate the mill only within the specified voltage and frequency range to avoid electrical damage. Ensure the equipment is placed on a stable, level surface with adequate clearance for ventilation.

  • Grinding Jar Sealing: Use only compatible grinding jars that are properly sealed to contain powder and prevent imbalance during high-speed rotation.
  • Running Time Limits: Do not exceed the maximum total running time setting to prevent motor overheating and mechanical wear.
  • Vacuum Jar Handling: Vacuum jars require careful handling to maintain seal integrity and avoid sudden pressure changes during operation.
  • Forward-Reverse Interval: Set the forward-reverse alternating time appropriately to achieve uniform grinding without excessive jar stress.
  • Noise Monitoring: Monitor the noise level throughout operation and stop immediately if abnormal sounds indicate mechanical fault.

Follow these steps for safe and effective powder grinding using the dual planetary ball mill. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment and ensure the mill is properly grounded.

Required Equipment: Planetary ball mill, Grinding jars with lids, Grinding balls of desired size, Variable frequency controller

  1. Inspect and prepare
Inspect the mill for damage, ensure all guards are in place, and confirm the power supply matches the specified voltage.
  2. Load grinding jars
Secure the filled and sealed grinding jars onto the planetary disk using the provided locking mechanism.
  3. Set rotation parameters
Set the desired revolution and rotation speeds via the variable frequency controller within the recommended range.
  4. Configure timing
Configure the total running time and forward-reverse alternating time using the control panel.
  5. Start operation
Start the mill and allow it to run through the programmed cycle while monitoring for abnormal noise or vibration.
  6. Stop and inspect
After the cycle completes, stop the mill and wait for full cessation before opening the chamber.
  7. Unload jars
Carefully remove the jars, release any vacuum if applicable, and collect the ground powder.

What trade-off exists between grinding jar capacity and motor power in the SXQM-4 double planetary ball mill?

The SXQM-4 uses a 0.75 kW motor both for its 4L total capacity with four 1000 ml jars and for the smaller 0.4L model, meaning power per unit volume is lower at maximum jar size. However, the double planetary design multiplies centrifugal force, achieving sufficient energy density to grind many materials to nanometer scale.

What jar and ball material combinations are compatible with the SXQM-4 for grinding abrasive or contamination-sensitive powders?

The SXQM-4 supports grinding jars and balls in agate, alumina, zirconia ceramic, silicon nitride, cemented carbide, stainless steel, wear-resistant steel, nylon, and polyurethane among others. This wide compatibility allows matching jar/ball materials to sample hardness and purity requirements, including vacuum jars from 50 ml to 1000 ml for atmosphere-sensitive milling.

What electrical and physical infrastructure is required to install and operate the SXQM-4 ball mill?

The SXQM-4 requires a 220V-50Hz power supply, a dedicated circuit for the 0.75 kW motor, and a robust level surface that can support its 250 kg net weight and 1150×800×760 mm footprint. Additional clearance for jar loading and ventilation is also necessary, as the unit operates at a noise level of 60±5 dB.

The Atomfair SXQM-4 4L dual planetary ball mill provides high-energy milling with a double planetary drive and variable frequency speed control, enabling nanoscale powder grinding. It requires 220V/50Hz electrical supply and operates at noise levels up to 65 dB, which may necessitate hearing protection.

Positive

  • High-Energy Nanoscale Grinding: The dual planetary structure multiplies centrifugal force, significantly increasing collision, shearing, and friction to achieve nanometer-scale particle sizes.
  • Variable Frequency Speed Control: Variable frequency regulation allows precise control of revolution speed (70–560 rpm) and rotation speed (140–1120 rpm) for optimized grinding protocols.

Trade-offs

  • Noise Level Requires Hearing Protection: Operating noise reaches 60±5 dB, which may necessitate hearing protection in laboratory settings to ensure operator comfort and compliance.
  • Specific Power Supply Requirement: The mill operates on 220V/50Hz power only, limiting deployment to regions or labs with compatible electrical infrastructure without a transformer.
