Product Introduction
The heavy-duty horizontal planetary ball mill adopts a dual-disk support bracket structure at both ends, which effectively improves equipment stability and load-bearing capacity, overcoming the limitation that light-duty horizontal planetary ball mills are only suitable for light-load applications. This machine is mainly intended for pilot-scale tests or small-batch grinding production.
Operating Principle of Planetary Ball Mill
The main disk of the planetary ball mill is equipped with four grinding jars. As the motor drives the main disk to rotate, the jars revolve around the main disk shaft while rotating on their own under the drive of the planetary mechanism, forming a planetary motion. The grinding balls inside the jars rub and collide with each other during high-speed planetary movement, enabling efficient grinding and sample mixing.

The casing is welded with thickened steel plates, delivering high strength, impact resistance, deformation resistance and a robust appearance. Machined parts undergo strict heat treatment and CNC processing. Transmission gears are precision-made from special materials, ensuring stable, safe and low-noise operation at high speeds.The machine is equipped with a brake locking function to guarantee safe operation during jar lifting, loading and locking. The integrated lifting and discharging device incorporates vibrating screen discharging technology, enabling quick jar handling, unloading and charging to improve production efficiency.A microcomputer touch screen is adopted for easy and intuitive operation. It supports forward and reverse alternating control, timing function and power-off memory.

Working Principle
The heavy-duty horizontal ball mill drives grinding media and materials through the rotation of a horizontal cylinder:
- Cylinder Rotation: The motor, via a reducer, rotates the cylinder around a horizontal axis. Grinding media (steel balls, etc.) inside rise along the cylinder wall to a certain height and then fall freely.
- Grinding Effect: Falling media impact and crush materials, while friction and shearing between materials and media further refine particles.
- Classified Discharging: Materials are ground stage by stage through multi-compartment diaphragms and finally discharged through a grid, realizing continuous production.
Selection Guide
Capacity Requirements
Select cylinder volume based on output: 50L–500L for small-scale production, and above 1000L (e.g., 5000L-class equipment) for large industrial lines.
Material Characteristics
- High-hardness materials require highly wear-resistant linings (e.g., manganese steel or zirconia) and large-sized grinding media.
- Wet grinding needs corrosion-resistant cylinders and sealed structures.
Energy Consumption & Maintenance
- Prioritize models with rolling bearings and variable frequency speed control to reduce energy consumption and improve control accuracy.
- Regularly inspect lining wear and lubrication systems for long-term stable operation.
Special Requirements
- For ultra-fine powders (≤1μm), a forced stirring system or counter-rotating device is recommended to enhance grinding efficiency.
For industries with high cleanliness requirements (pharmaceuticals, food, etc.), full stainless steel structure and pollution-free linings are required.
