Under sunlight (especially UV), nano-ZnO decomposes into negative electrons and positive holes. Holes activate oxygen into reactive species, oxidizing and killing microbes. Released zinc ions bind to bacterial proteases, inactivating them. Used in apparel (sportswear, uniforms), medical textiles (hospital linens, surgical gowns), bedding, and UV-protective products like umbrellas, curtains, and tents.
