Atomfair Elastase C20H28O2 CAS 1927969-09-2
Elastase is a serine protease enzyme with significant hydrolytic activity, particularly targeting elastin and other extracellular matrix proteins. This high-purity enzyme is isolated from porcine pancreas and exhibits optimal activity at physiological pH (7.0-8.5). With a molecular weight of approximately 25-30 kDa, our Elastase preparation demonstrates >95% purity by SDS-PAGE analysis and retains full enzymatic activity when stored at -20°C. The product is supplied as a lyophilized powder containing <50% protein (Biuret) with the remainder being sodium acetate buffer salts. Ideal for proteomics research, tissue dissociation studies, and ECM remodeling investigations, this enzyme shows specificity for bonds involving small hydrophobic…
Description
Elastase is a serine protease enzyme with significant hydrolytic activity, particularly targeting elastin and other extracellular matrix proteins. Ideal for proteomics research, tissue dissociation studies, and ECM remodeling investigations, this enzyme shows specificity for bonds involving small hydrophobic amino acids (Ala, Val, Gly). Each batch undergoes rigorous quality control including activity assays (using N-succinyl-Ala-Ala-Ala-p-nitroanilide as substrate) and endotoxin testing (<0.1 EU/μg).

Application
Elastase is widely used in pulmonary research to create animal models of emphysema through direct airway administration. In cell biology, it serves as a critical tool for tissue dissociation protocols, particularly for isolating primary cells from elastin-rich tissues. The enzyme finds application in wound healing studies investigating extracellular matrix remodeling. Researchers also utilize elastase in proteomics to generate specific peptide fragments for mass spectrometry analysis. Additionally, it’s employed in industrial processes for tenderizing meat and in detergent formulations.
